Description
A reward that lets you pick one item out of a short offer instead of handing you a fixed one. Each kind of anvil draws its offer from its own pool: a component anvil offers basic components, four at a time; a completed item anvil offers finished items; an Artifact anvil offers Artifacts. Augments, wisps and some champion effects grant them.

Frequently asked questions
-
What exactly is an anvil, and how do I open one?
An anvil is a reward object that sits on your unit bench and holds a choice of items instead of one fixed item. You open it by selling it — drag it onto the shop, the same motion as selling a champion — and a short list of items replaces the shop. Right-clicking only shows its description, so nothing opens until you drag. Each kind draws from its own pool: item components, completed items, or Artifacts.
-
How do I get an Artifact? I keep seeing them but never find one.
You get Artifacts two ways: from an Artifact anvil, or straight from an augment. Components combine into completed items, so you cannot build an Artifact from components. Anvils that hold Artifacts arrive from augments and other in-game rewards, and some augments skip the anvil and hand you Artifacts directly. Opening encounters that hand out anvils give component or completed-item ones. If you have never seen an Artifact, you never took a source that grants them.
-
Can I keep an anvil unopened and open it later?
Yes. It opens only when you sell it, so it waits on your bench until you act — useful when you want to see how your board develops first. The cost is real: it takes a unit bench slot, the same space a champion would use, for the whole time it sits there. Your bench holds nine slots, and a game can hand you more than one anvil at once.
-
How long do I have to choose once I open one, and what if the fight starts?
Thirty seconds. An anvil's own text says it: drag it to the shop to open it, then you have thirty seconds to choose. That clock is short, so open one early in a planning phase, when you can read every option calmly. A game can hand you more than one anvil at once — open them one at a time, not all at the end of a phase. Start one only when you have time to finish it.
-
What happens if my bench is full when an anvil arrives?
An anvil needs a unit bench slot, exactly like a champion, so bench space is a real cost once a reward is on the way. Your bench holds nine slots. What happens when an anvil arrives with no room — blocked, delayed, or lost — is not stated in any source I could check, so do not gamble on it. Free a slot before the round that pays out, not after.
-
It sits on my bench like a champion — can it fight, or be copied?
It cannot fight. Under the hood an anvil really is a unit with stats, but those stats never matter, because there is no way to put one on the battlefield. It only holds a bench slot until you sell it, and takes no part in any round. Whether a copying or transforming effect can grab one is not stated in any source I could check, so do not build a plan around that.
-
The offer is all things I do not want — can I reroll it or skip it?
You can skip it by not selling it — an unopened anvil keeps waiting on your bench. Once open, you choose from that anvil's own pool. Shop rerolls buy fresh champions; no source I could check describes a way to reroll or widen an anvil's offer. When nothing looks good, take the component that builds into the widest range of finished items rather than the one that looks strongest alone.
-
Is an Artifact offer ever worth turning down?
You can leave it unopened, but you cannot cash it in: selling it is what opens the offer, so there is no gold refund waiting. The real question is which one, not whether. Artifacts give stats plus one rare, powerful effect, so the strongest-looking option can still be the wrong fit for the carry you are building. Read the offer against your own board, and open it once that board is settled.
