Description
A shared round where every player picks a champion off the same rotating ring. Each champion on the ring is already holding an item, so this is the one round that hands out a champion and an item together, and it is the main way to reach an item the shop will never sell you. Everyone starts the round penned behind a barrier and is let out in pairs: the two players on the lowest player health go first, then the next two, and so on, so the players who are losing get first pick. Once you are out you run your tactician to the champion you want and take it; if the timer runs out before you pick, the game hands you one of the leftovers, favouring the higher-cost ones. The ring can also roll richer than usual, holding more champions than normal or champions of a higher cost. Two augments play with the round itself. Hard Bargain gives up your pick completely — you are handed whatever nobody took, along with the item it carries — and pays you gold and player health every carousel round in exchange. Young and Wild and Free lets you move freely for the whole round.

Frequently asked questions
-
What is the carousel?
A shared draft round. Every player still in the game is sent to the same ring of champions, and each champion there already holds an item. You walk your Tactician in, and the first champion you touch is yours — champion plus item, free. The line-up is shared, so it thins as players pick and later pickers choose from what is left. A ring can also roll richer than usual: more champions than normal, or champions of a higher cost.
-
Does the game still open with a carousel?
Yes, and it is the very first round you play. The opening ring is different: all eight players are released at once, it holds only the cheapest champions, and every champion on it carries at least a component. After that, a ring lands on the fourth round of every stage. The rest of the first stage is monster fights, not drafts, which is why the ring comes before any of them.
-
Who gets to pick first on the carousel?
Player Health sets the order. From the second ring on, the two lowest-health players are released first, then the next two, and so on, so the healthiest players pick last from what is left. The opening ring is the exception — everyone is released together. Augments can rewrite this: one lets you move freely on carousel rounds instead of waiting for your release.
-
Does being low on player Health actually help me?
Only in turn order, and only after the opening ring — there everyone picks at the same time. Later rings release the two lowest-health players first, then the next two, so losing buys an earlier pick. You still take one champion with the item it carries, like everyone else. A loss streak pays streak gold, but a win streak pays the same, so there is no extra payout — and spent player Health is hard to win back.
-
What happens if I do not pick before the timer runs out?
The game picks for you. When the timer ends you are handed a random champion from those left on the ring, favouring higher-cost leftovers, and it arrives holding its item. You lose the choice, not the reward — and a ring can roll with higher-cost champions than normal, so the leftovers are not always bad. Watch your space: with a full bench and a full board, the champion sits on the board and is sold at the end of planning unless you make room.
-
Do I always get an item from the carousel?
Yes. Every champion on the ring is already holding an item, so a pick is always a champion plus an item. What that item is varies by ring: sometimes a basic component, two of which combine into a finished item, sometimes the finished item itself. The opening ring gives at least a component. You cannot take the item alone. A ring can also roll richer than usual, with more champions or higher-cost ones.
-
Does my Tactician give me an edge on the carousel?
No source says one Tactician moves faster than another on the ring, so treat the cosmetic choice as no edge — absence of proof, not proof. Speed rules do exist: Tacticians hurry toward their own loot orbs. What decides your pick is your release time, which follows player Health, plus your position, your path, and the rule that the first champion you touch is yours. One augment lets you move freely all round.
-
Can I trade my carousel pick, or pick before my turn?
No to either, as a base rule. There is no trading step: the first champion your Tactician touches is the one you get, with the item it carries, and that is your whole round. Order is fixed too — after the opening ring, the two lowest-health players are released first, then the next two. Augments are the only thing that changes this; one removes your choice entirely and pays you gold and player Health each carousel round instead.
