A streak is how many rounds you won back to back, or lost back to back. A win streak and a loss streak pay exactly the same.
The payout at the end of every round:
- One or two in a row pays nothing.
- Three or four in a row pays one extra gold.
- Five in a row pays two.
- Six or more pays three.
The neutral monster rounds pay it as well. A streak that is already running earns on every round it survives. It stops the moment the streak breaks. Then you start counting again from nothing.
Because both sides pay the same, losing on purpose early is a real plan and not just bad luck. A long loss streak earns the same gold as a long win streak. You spend player health instead of gold.
Two augments change the streak number itself:
- Called Shot sets your win streak straight to four, the first paying step. One more win pushes you to two gold a round.
- Quick Streaks doubles the progress you make toward both win and loss streaks. You reach a paying step in half the rounds.

Is a win streak better than a loss streak, or should I switch?
Both pay the same. The steps and the gold mirror each other, and the top step is three extra gold a round either way.
The difference is everything around it:
- A player round you win pays one more gold on top.
- A win in a player round costs you no player health.
Losing on purpose only pays when your board cannot win anyway. It trades health you were going to lose for gold.
Note: Win when you can, and lose on purpose only when you clearly cannot.

I keep going win, loss, win, loss. Is that worse than just losing every round?
Yes. Alternating is the worst case. The bonus needs at least two results in a row. Win, loss, win, loss resets the count every round and never reaches a paying step. You still pay health on each loss.
The steps:
- Two in a row already pays one extra gold per round.
- Five in a row pays two.
- Six or more pays three.
Note: Pick the direction your board can actually hold, and commit.

My streak just broke — what actually happens to the counter?
It goes back to zero. Nothing is banked. The count is just how many rounds in a row you have won, or lost.
- The round that broke it is already round one of a streak the other way.
- You need two in a row before the bonus pays again.
The real cost is the rebuild, not the single round.
Note: Ask whether two or three more rounds that way is realistic before paying to chase it.

Should I spend gold to keep a streak alive?
Only when the buy is worth more than the streak returns.
- The bonus tops out at three extra gold a round, plus the one gold for winning and the health you keep.
- So a big spend has to hold for several more rounds to pay itself back.
- Spending also drops your bank, and interest pays one gold per ten gold held, up to five.
- Slipping under a ten costs you there too.
Note: Buy board upgrades you wanted anyway. Do not buy a number.

How do I know when to stop a loss streak?
Stop when health, not gold, becomes the thing that ends your game.
- Damage from a loss is a base amount for the stage plus one per surviving enemy unit, and never less than one.
- That base grows every stage, so the same streak costs more the longer it runs.
Plan the exit. Pick the round where you spend the banked gold on levels and board strength, and end the streak by winning.
Note: Ride it too long and the gold lands too late.

Do the monster rounds pay streak gold, and can they break my streak?
They pay, and they do not break it.
- Streak gold is paid on the neutral monster rounds too, so a streak that is already running earns there for free.
- Win streaks and loss streaks both carry through those rounds instead of being reset by them.
- So beating the monsters will not end a loss streak.
Note: That is why a long streak is worth more than the number of player rounds alone suggests.

Does losing on purpose also get me better carousel picks?
Yes, but the prize is smaller than it looks.
- Carousel picks go in reverse order of standing.
- The two lowest health players are released first, then the next two, so the weakest pick from the fullest lineup.
- The opening carousel is the exception. Everyone picks at once.
It is pick priority, not gold, and you already paid for it with the health the losses cost.
Note: Take it as a side benefit, never the reason.

Can another player break my loss streak on purpose?
Not on purpose. The game assigns your opponent at random each round, so nobody can pick you.
- Any opponent fielding a weak board hands you a win you cannot decline, and that ends the loss streak.
- With an odd number of players left, one player instead fights a copy of another board.
- A copy that wins deals damage like a real team.
Note: Treat a long loss streak as a plan that can end any round.

Can an effect change my streak number itself, instead of just paying more gold?
Some do.
- One augment sets your win streak straight to four, which is already a paying step, so one more win moves it up.
- Another doubles the progress each round makes toward both win and loss streaks, so you reach a paying step in half the rounds.
They move the counter, and the payout steps themselves are unchanged.
Note: Everything else works as normal: round results, and the reset when a streak breaks.
